Diep River SAPS celebrated Nelson Mandela’s Birthday on 18 July 2016 by dedicating 67minutes of our workday to his legacy.  The Women’s network and Men for Change visited the Childhood Cancer (CHOC) foundation South Africa in Plumstead, a non-profitable organisation that provides support to children suffering from cancer and life-threating blood disorders as well as their mothers.

The Supervisor, Lana Loot was very grateful for Diep River SAPS selecting their organisation for the Nelson Mandela’s initiative and welcomed all donations open heartedly.   Captain John Saayman, the Support Head handed over hand-made knitted clothing for the cold Winter. Diep River SAPS members were touched with the unselfish work of the organisation and the impact it has on many children with their mothers.

Every act of kindness can make a big a difference in other lives. If only everyday was celebrated like Mandela Day, there would be a helping hand for all.
