SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE-CORPORATE COMMUNICATION: DIEP RIVER SAPS
SAPS CAREER AND SAFETY TALK TO LOCAL LEARNERS
Western Cape: On 2017-11-29 from 10:00 – 14:00 Diep River SAPS and its reservists held a talk with learners of a local high school within the Cluster regarding SAPS career day, drugs and children in conflict with the law.
The learners were given guidance as to the “do’s and don’ts” in society and realise as they get older they are setting the standard in society. The learners were presented with a full run down as to what SAPS do on a day-to-day basis. Other social issues were discussed and the floor was opened to the learners to ask questions to SAPS.
Diep River SAPS would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local schools within the precinct area for their co-operation in terms of the safer schools program between Diep River SAPS and the Department of Education.
Anyone interested in Diep River SAPS doing special talks or presentations for the schools in the future may contact Constable Zak Marais on 021 710 7314 or 079 894 0105, or alternatively email diepriversaps@saps.gov.za.
DIEP RIVER COMMUNITY POLICE FORUM WORLD AIDS DAY AWARENESS
Western Cape: On 2017-12-01 Diep River Community Police Forum of Diep River SAPS embarked on an awareness campaign World Aids Day at a local primary school in Spaansgemacht River Road, Constantia.
The executive members took it upon themselves to make cupcakes and hand these cupcakes out to the learners whilst engaging with learners to make them aware of the deadly-disease.
Diep River SAPS and the Community Police Forum (CPF) welcome any and all that would like to get further involved in community projects or events to contact Fiona Schwimmbacher on cpfdiepriver177@gmail.com or alternatively on diepriversaps@saps.gov.za.
DIEP RIVER SAPS THANKS PARTNERSHIPS – WORD OF APPRECIATION
Western Cape: On 2017-12-04 Diep River SAPS, the Community Police Forum (CPF), and Constantia Valley Watch Association (which represents all watches under Diep River SAPS Precinct as a whole) held a joint awards ceremony for our SAPS Reserve members, City of Cape Town Law Enforcement permanent and reserve members, and neighbourhood watch patrollers alike.
Many do not know the hundreds of hours spend behind the scenes – most of which is done voluntarily from members within the community in the fight against crime.
Diep River SAPS would like to express their gratitude for the members’ dedication and constant support throughout the year. “We at the station are extremely grateful for the commitment by these members. We cannot stress how important these partnerships are to us in the fight against crime – crime cannot be fought alone. We need the help and support of the community alike. Diep River SAPS looks forward to the ever-growing partnerships into the New Year.”
We continue to encourage the community to get involved:
- join the neighbourhood watch
- join the community police forum
- sign up to become a reservist
Certificate of thanks were handed to these members and patrollers alike from the station.
