FIRST NHW AWARDS 2015 – BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES

FIRST NHW AWARDS 2015 – BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES

The Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Awards is not a contest between NHW volunteers or associations, but rather it is an opportunity to recognise the tireless work being done by dedicated volunteers and active NHW groups in the fight against increasing crime levels in our respective communities.

One of the chief ways we can recognise their important contribution in providing an additional safety net for our areas, is by awarding them for this outstanding community service. The NHW Awards recognises these dedicated individuals through this inaugural awards event, as a platform to shine a light on the often dark corners these NHW volunteers operate in. Accordingly, we invite NHW formations, NHW members and the public to nominate outstanding NHW volunteers and formations in seven official categories: NHW member of Year; The Safe City Award; The Community Cohesion Award plus many more.

Nominees should be registered NHW volunteers, who are part of a registered NHW structure, Community Policing Forum (CPF) or a local police registered crime fighting forum within the Cape Metropole.

Please submit your nominations using the web form, giving the nominee’s name, current affiliation and contact information, and a 200-word summary explaining why he or she deserves to win the award in a particular category. The deadline for nominations is 13th November 2015 at 17:00. The awards website www.nhwawards.co.za provides you with more information, including a list of criteria for each category.

The NHW Awards will be preceded with a NHW Education Week 23-27 November 2015 in the Concourse level of the Civic Centre as an opportunity to engage the public on NHW activities and increasing public safety in Cape Town. The awards will be held at a ceremony in the Civic Centre, Cape Town on 27 November 2015.
