Crime wrap, May 2017- SAPS Diepriver


Western Cape:   On 2017/05/25 at 11.00 the complainant parked her vehicle in front of her place of work in Estmil road Diep River. The complainant removed her handbag from the boot of her car and closed the boot. A white vehicle, description unknown, stopped next to the complainant. Two unknown males, jumped out of the unknown white vehicle.  Complainant tried to run for assistance, but the suspects managed to grab her and throw the complainant to the ground. The suspects thereafter hit the complainant with a unknown firearm against the left ear. The suspects grabbed the complaints bag containing R33000.00 cash and a Samsung cell phone, then jumped into the unknown white vehicle, shot two shots, and fled the scene. No serious injuries were incurred. Case of Robbery with a Firearm is currently under investigation. On 2017/05/21 at 11.00 the complainant whom resides on the Constantia pre-school premises in Constantia, locked the premises and went out. On the same day when the complainant returned, he noticed the front door forced open. Upon further investigation the complainant noticed various tools to the value of approximately R22 600.00 were stolen. A case of Burglary has been opened and is currently under investigation. For the Month of May,  78 persons were arrested for various offences ranging from possession of drugs, possession of imitation firearm, housebreaking and theft, theft, assault, common robbery, fraud, driving under the influence of alcohol and murder.  6 VCP’S (vehicle check point) were held.


On 2017/05/26 from 19.00 till 04.30 on 2017/05/27 an operation was held consisting of seven(7) Police Members, fourteen(14) Law Enforcement Members, as well as many Neighbourhood Watch patrollers and Security companies. During the operation three (3) VCP’s (vehicle check points), were held, One (1) in Diep River Precinct, One (1) in Kirstenhof Precinct and one (1) in Wynberg Precinct. Fines written out for the duration of the operation totalled approximately R31, 000.00. Six (6) arrests were made during the operation for possession of drugs.  Blue light patrols were held consisting of nine (9) vehicles.
