A resident is working on analysing the latest police statistics for all the police precincts in Cape Town at present. (SAPS have replaced their original version of the statistics with an updated version as there were errors in the release of 29 September).
It is interesting to note that in the Diep River precinct crime is decreasing when looking that the grouped crime categories.
For all Contact-related crimes Diep River had the biggest decline of all the precincts in Cape Town both in terms of number and percentage in the last reported year. Only 5 of the 61 precincts in Cape Town had a decline.
For SAPS Diep River, Contacted-related crimes decreased by 11.4% (from 431 to 382). When looking at the total of all the Cape Town precincts in Cape Town there was an increase of 8% in Contact-related crimes between 2013/14 and 2014/15.
Other groups looked at so far are Property-related crimes where Cape Town has been a decline of 5.9% and Diep River a decline of 18.6% (from 1 787 to 1 455) between 2013/14 and 2014/15
