CONGRATULATIONS and thanks to our 3 local SAPS stations, especially DIEPRIVER.

A resident is working on analysing the latest police statistics for all the police precincts in Cape Town at present. (SAPS have replaced their original version of the statistics with an updated version as there were errors in the release of 29 September).

It is interesting to note that in the Diep River precinct crime is decreasing when looking that the grouped crime categories.

For all Contact-related crimes Diep River had the biggest decline of all the precincts in Cape Town both in terms of number and percentage in the last reported year. Only 5 of the 61 precincts in Cape Town had a decline. (more…)

The “spike in serious crime”  (Bulletin Oct 1st)  as revealed by S.A.P.S . statistics and comments by M.E.C. Dan Plato, was predictable, and until the National S.A.P.S. can provide the necessary resources, as well as there being a change in our socio –economic climate,  it will probably continue to increases. ‘Broken telephone’ at Western Cape 10111 – DA

Cape Town – Western Cape citizens are being asked to share their 10111 police call centre experiences after a recent oversight visit raised concerns.

The province’s standing committee on community safety visited the call centre in Cape Town last month.

It found a scanner that is supposed to track the number of calls to the centre had been broken since 2013, according to DA provincial community safety spokesperson Mireille Wenger on Tuesday. (more…)

Response officers thanked

Four local security armed response officers were awarded Certificates of Appreciation from the CVWA (Constantia Valley Watches Association) for their unselfish dedication to the local community.

Barry Ackeer and Peter Damons, both from BH Security; plus Simbonile Bakajana and Tariq Munnik from ADT were presented the certificates and mouth-watering Spur Vouchers. Andre Ackerman, owner of our local Acapulco Spur Steak Ranch generously provided the meal vouchers to accompany the certificates. (more…)

CAR HIJACKING

On 2015-09-05 at 23:15 a Plumstead resident arrived home.

As per vehicle owner the driver went outside to park the vehicle inside the yard when the 4 b/males came from behind him and held a gun against his head.

They then asked for money and demanded he must go with them. Driver got free and ran inside. Suspects then drove off with the vehicle towards De Waal road then to Grassy park direction. They fled in their green Mazda Midge323 no registration. (more…)

PUBLIC MEETING – STREET PEOPLE – 2 SEPTEMBER 2015

Below is a notice received from the City (Subcouncil 20 which includes Constantia) regarding a public meeting to be held next Wednesday 2nd September at 7pm at the Alphen Hall

We  receive many complaints/enquiries regarding the increasing number of vagrants in the Constantia area and surrounds and have been requesting such a meeting with the authorities for some time.

We encourage you to attend if at all possible.

At Home on the Streets – People’s Post (Astrid Februarie)

There is a growing number of homeless people in Constantia who seek help in getting off the street. Last week the special response team in Constantia took People’s Post to all the homeless people hotspots in the community. People’s Post found that many of the street people live in the area due to the safety and security the area provides.
