K9 SEEFF MAKES HIS FIRST ARREST

17/11/2023, late morning, while patrolling the M3 a Constantia Watch SRT member reports seeing 2 well known naughty suspects who reside at the old dump area behind the Emporium, walking with a bag of what looks like copper. As he stops to check, both run as fast as they can and disappear into the bushes.

SRT member calls for assistance and responders from FADT, BKM SRT, Zone, Ithuba, Premier, SRU Security, SAPS and volunteer NW patrollers all come to assist checking the M3 bushes and surrounds from Ladiesmile to Alphen.

After a lengthy period of finding no one, an assisting FADT supervisor found a discarded white T-shirt (which one of the suspects was seen wearing), under the Doordrift bridge.

CW SRT K9 handler Dwayne de Vos took K9 Seeff to pick up scent from the shirt. Then he was off running, up onto Doordrift Road, down into Van Breda and then into Hauptville Circle. He doubled back onto Doordrift Road where he found the one suspect hiding in a thick clump of bushes.

With Seeff staring him down he quickly complied, lay still with his arms behind his back, waiting for handcuffs as he is so used to doing. It only took a few barks from Seeff for him to spill the beans on where they got the copper and where his accomplice was headed.

Well done K9 Seeff, well done SRT, and well done to all responders and our community CVIC control room operators for the amazing teamwork. Suspect handed over to SAPS who took him away for processing.

Appreciation to Seeff Properties Southern Suburbs who sponsor Seeff’s food keeping him in peak condition, as well as K9-Trailing for ongoing training and support.
