Weekly crime wrap news from SAPS Diep River

Western Cape: Diep River Police can confirm for the week from Monday 2017/03/06 till Sunday 2017/03/12 ten arrests were made for various offences, such as Theft, Robbery common and Assault common.

On Sunday 2017/03/12 a 36 year old coloured male, residing in Diep River was arrested. The suspect took a cell phone from the complainant, after the complainant was threatened with a knife. The case is currently under investigation. Suspect appeared at Wynberg Magistrates court on 2017/03/14.

This office would like to appeal to the community to be wary if businesses with whom you owe cash, sends correspondence that payments you are intended to pay, should be paid into a different bank account, as the bank account details have changed.  First verify with the respective business if the correspondence was indeed sent by them, before money gets deposited into the bank account.

Western Cape:  On 2017/03/17 at 11.50 the complainant was driving in Plumstead. He noticed the front gate of a home in Plumstead standing open. The complainant parked his vehicle and went to press the intercom at the house, in order to get the owner of the home to close the gate. After pressing the intercom, the complainant saw five unknown black males, running from the house. One of the suspects pointed what seemed to be a firearm at the complainant. The suspect thereafter took the car keys and house keys belonging to the complainant, out of the ignition of his vehicle. The suspects climbed into a unknown vehicle, and drove away. On 2017/03/17 at 23.30 the complainant whom is a driver for Uber, picked up the suspect who wanted to travel from Claremont to Plumstead. The suspect asked the complainant to stop the vehicle in Plumstead area as he wanted to call his girlfriend. The suspect climbed out the vehicle and approached the complainant’s window.  The suspect thereafter held a knife to the complainant’s neck and robbed him of his cellphone and cash. The suspect then ran away. No arrests have yet been made. Any person with any information can contact Sergeant Agreement Jack on (021) 7107353.

For the week 2017/03/13 till 2017/03/19 fifteen persons was arrested for offences such as assault, theft and theft out of motor vehicle.
