SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE-CORPORATE COMMUNICATION: DIEP RIVER SAPS

IMMEDIATE MEDIA RELEASE
Thursday 17th January 2019
REPORTING OF STOLEN OR LOST WHEELIE (MUNICIPAL) BINS
Western Cape: Diep River SAPS would like to inform all members of the community that the reporting process for stolen or lost wheelie (municipal) bin has changed.
Previously, a member of the public would have to open a case docket at the local police station for the theft of their wheelie bin thus utilising the CAS number as reference.
The City of Cape Town has now agreed that a sworn affidavit and not a case docket will suffice in requesting a replacement of your wheelie bin.
Please ensure whilst making your affidavits that you ensure the following is included in your affidavit
· Municipal account number (usually found on your utility or rates bill)
· The facts/circumstances of the disappearance of the bin (date, time, place where bin was last seen)
END.
