IMMEDIATE MEDIA RELEASE – Wednesday 7th February 2018

Bicycles Recovered

Western Cape: On 2018-02-06 at about 15:30 Diep River SAPS Constables Benjamin and Benzi were conducting routine crime prevention duties in the Diep River area when they received an anonymous tip off of two males attempting to sell two possibly stolen bicycles at a local bicycle shop, Main Road, Plumstead.

The members immediately followed up on this information and found the two suspects at the shop with the bicycles.

The suspects, both males, aged 33 and 30 were subsequently arrested on scene after failing to provide justification as to where the bicycles come from. It was later discovered that these bicycles were stolen earlier in the Pinelands area and the owner of these bicycles was traced and notified of the recovery. A case of Possession of stolen property was opened against the two suspects.

The bicycles are valued to +-R30 000 in value.

Diep River SAPS Management would like to thank the members involved for their Back-to-Basics approach in the fight against crime.

Anyone with any information pertaining to the above case are urged to contact Diep River SAPS on (021) 710 7300.
