Another great day at SAPS Diepriver

SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE-CORPORATE COMMUNICATION: DIEP RIVER SAPS

IMMEDIATE MEDIA RELEASE – Tuesday 30th October 2018

FOCUSED APPROACH – SWIFT ARRESTS!

Western Cape: On Monday 2018-10-29 at 04:25 Diep River SAPS members, Sergeant Pikashe and Constable Matabeni responded to a distress call at a local petrol station, De Waal Road Diep River.

Information received by the members was that a white sedan vehicle had filled up with petrol and was refusing to pay. Moments before the members arrived on scene, the vehicle, with several suspects inside, drove off.

Sergeant Pikashe and Constable Matabeni then spotted the vehicle in its attempt to flee on De Waal Road, Diep River and proceeded to give chase. The SAPS Back-to-Basics approach was applied and the members called on assistance from neighbouring stations. The vehicle was shortly stopped on the M5 Highway.

Further investigation by the members found that the vehicle had in actual fact been allegedly stolen earlier that evening in Grassy Park.

Several suspects, all male, aged between 17 years and 28 years old were arrested on scene. Charges of Theft and Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle were opened against the suspects. Possible further charges and linkages are underway.

Diep River SAPS management would like to commend these members for remaining vigilant with their focused-approach towards the fight against crime.

COMMUNITY POLICING PARTNERSHIPS WORK!

Western Cape: On Tuesday 2018-10-30 at approximately 04:00 a resident was awoken by a noise of her garage door opening at her residential premises, Southfield Road, Plumstead. The resident got up and went to investigate and found that there were unknown persons in her garage.

Diep River SAPS were alerted to the incident and responded. On arrival, the members found two male suspects, aged 37 and 39 years old, on scene.

The suspects were caught after they had allegedly forced the garage door open and were disturbed by the resident. The local Security-Service-Provider (SSP) halted their attempt to flee as they exited the garage. The suspects were handed over to Diep River SAPS for further detention.

A case of Housebreaking was opened on scene and is currently being investigated.

Diep River SAPS would like to thank Combat Force for their assistance in the apprehension of the above suspects and the Constantia Valley Information Centre Control Room for their coordinated and shared network with Diep River SAPS and its partnerships in the fight against crime.

We praise the community and all our partners for working together with the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.
